The goal is simple – provide a space to connect. The Merrimack College community is being brought together within the Merrimack Professional Network to encourage students, alumni, faculty, staff and partners to intentionally build connections. Groups built within the Merrimack Professional Network are an opportunity to provide space for alumni and students to gather based on their shared interest or background. Groups allow for targeted conversations to further engage and foster community. If you are interested in starting and managing a group within the MPN, please complete the form below. Questions? Please contact the O'Brien Center at obriencenter@merrimack.edu.
Do you know what you’d like to title your group?
Who do you anticipate being part of your group? Please select all that apply.
Do you have a list of people you would like to invite to join the group? You don’t need to share the list now, but you will be expected to provide it after the initial setup. In the meantime, please use this space to describe the types of users you expect in more detail. Please note the following:
Would you like this to be a public or private group? Private groups are only accessible via direct link to initially join but will be listed on an individual member’s groups page for access in the future.
Who will serve as group administrator(s)? All admins must be faculty or staff. Group administrators will be able to view active users or those pending approval within the group. They will also be able to remove members from a group only. Please be specific (Ex: Megan Haggerty, Director of Graduate Professional Services). *Please note that our O’Brien Center super admin will be listed as an admin for long-term succession planning purposes.
Are there any requirements to joining the group? If yes, please be specific in what they should be listed as. (Ex: Must be a current or former member of “population.”)
Are there any registration questions you would like to use in determining approval to join your group? (Ex: Are you a member of this “population?”)
Within your MPN Group, you will have access to a discussion board which functions similarly to the same feature on Canvas. It’s meant to start discussion with in-thread replies between members.
Separately, you can request access to emailing within the Group which would allow you to send communications external to the platform to the entire group membership or sub-groups by area of need (i.e. alumni only vs students only). Do you plan to utilize the email function within the group on MPN?
Do you have any resources you’d like to upload during setup? These could include documents or links to webpages. Please email documents to obriencenter@merrimack.edu. You’ll also have the option to add more resources later.
If you plan to utilize events in the group, do you have any to add during setup? Please note all on campus events or virtual events with guest speakers must follow the Merrimack College's event vetting process.
When do you plan to launch this to your audience? *The O’Brien Center needs a minimum of 2 weeks to build a new group.
